Updates to Lab Supplies
Many requests involve translating technical content into more accessible formats for specific audiences. In one case, a team had developed a text-heavy presentation outlining key procedural changes and initially asked for voiceover narration on each slide.
After reviewing the material, I proposed instructional edits to improve clarity and engagement. They agreed, with the stipulation that the final product remain in the LMS for tracking completion.
Key improvements included:
Narration strategy: Limited voiceover to the introduction and conclusion, allowing learners to control pacing. Narration summarized slide content rather than repeating it verbatim.
Slide structure: Refined content to focus on one idea per slide, increasing the total from five to eight slides.
Accessibility and usability: Added zoom functionality for graphics, closed captions, and a visible page count to help learners gauge course length.
Results and Takeaways
The team was very satisfied with the final product. I appreciated the opportunity to navigate a challenging conversation with tact, using my analysis to propose edits grounded in adult learning principles.
